The first step to living a minimalist, simple life is to go through your house and declutter, purge, and throwout anything you don’t need, want, or use. Start with your WARDROBE, and donate, any pieces you don’t wear anymore, but are still in awesome condition. Toss out any old socks, undies, shirts with stains, or ripped clothing. If your not sure whether to purge a shirt or piece of clothing, ask yourself “When was the last time I wore it?”, if its more then 5-6months then let it go. Get rid of any old shoes, or hats, anything that is keeping your wardrobe cluttered. When your done with your wardrobe, you should only have pieces you wear often.
Next move on to the linen closet, get rid of old sheets, towels, pillowcases, etc that you don’t use anymore or are stained. This may seem silly, but it’ll be crazy how much space you open up.
Moving on, its time to declutter your make-up, shower, and other beauty products. If you have unused make-up, bath or beauty products, you can donate them to women’s shelter who would be thrilled to receive them. When it comes to make-up, separate the things you wear everyday, things you wear sometimes and things you never wear. Obviously throwout the make-up you never use, and keep only half of the products you only use sometimes. Get rid of any open bath, beauty products, that you don’t reach for anymore, or can’t remember the last time you used them.
Declutter your books, your pantry, and other household items, using the same motto, “When was the last time I used it?”, if it was more then 5-6 months get rid of it. Your won’t believe how much better you feel and how much more room there is to grow in your house after you purged the useless items!
When it comes to living simple, meal prepping is a huge help. Stop going out to eat, buying lunch or spending money on food. Instead when your going to the grocery store get items to meal prep for the week. Not only will this save you a ton of money, it’ll keep you on a healthy eating path, and you don’t have to stress about food through out the week. Simply grab a meal prepped container and hit the road.

When it comes to buying groceries, don’t hit the grocery store 2 or three times a week. Set a date once a week to do the food shopping. Take a minute to make a list of everything you need, for food, and household items and don’t deviate from it. I know its tempting to buy extra goodies at the food store, but if your strict and stick to your list you can save a ton of money. Also add items to the list throughout the week as you run out, this helps you have a detailed list of everything you need at the end of the week. Using coupons is another awesome money saving idea. If you know what you need, then you know what coupons to look for, don’t be afraid to use coupons and save yourself some money.
When it comes to buying clothes and beauty products, don’t buy extras. If you know you love to shop then don’t wonder into stores where you know you’ll spend money. Only buy things like shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc when you run out. Keeping yourself on a budget will help you tremendously.

Get into the habit of enjoying the little things in life. Things like, drinking your morning coffee, going for a walk and enjoying the view, listening to good music on the way to work, getting yourself some flowers etc. Enjoying the small things in life will change your perspective on the way you live your life. I know social media makes it seem like everyones life is perfect, but thats just not the case. Don’t worry if you don’t have it all together, learn to enjoy the simple things in life and you’ll be just fine!
