Hey there lovelies! Today were going to be talking all about energy and foods that will help give you a boost. For me the winter time can become quite a drag. Because of the cold I tend to not wanna leave the house, and have little motivation to get out in the sunlight or outdoors in general. It’s so important to keep yourself motivated and your energy levels up or the winter time will eat you alive. RAWRRR!!!
I think it’s a well known fact that bananas hold a ton of potassium. What we don’t often realize however is how tired, exhausted, and low energy we feel when our potassium levels hit the floor. Potassium is needed in an everyday diet to help prevent anxiety and stress and also to keep your kidneys and heart strong. Banana’s are a simple carb making them perfect for a post-workout snack. Simple carb means it’s easy to digest and because there healthy sugars it gives you an instant boost of energy!

Coconut water and the meat from the coconuts hold so many healthy vitamins and minerals as well as a ton of electrolytes. Coconuts are low in sugars, carbs and sodium making them a great choice to boost energy and help with your workout. Two of the main vitamins and minerals that coconut water holds is Potassium and Lauric acid. We already touched on how important potassium is in your diet so lets touch a bit on Lauric Acid. Lauric Acid helps kill harmful bacteria, virus and fungi that can form in your body. The problem is only a handful of food items hold this acid, therefore it’s lacking in just about everyone’s diet. Coconut water is an instant energy boost, coconuts are also a simple carb giving you that boost you need!
Oatmeal is a long lasting carbohydrate, meaning it gives you a energy boost that lasts a lot longer, while holding your blood sugar steady. Oatmeal has a ton of antioxidants and vitamins to help you loose weight and raise your energy levels. One of the main vitamins oatmeal holds is Fiber. Fiber is important in any healthy diet to help move your digestive system along, and create bowel movement that is healthy for your body. If you suffer from constipation fiber is a huge god-send. It cleans your digestive system and pushes the bad stuff out. Oatmeal overall will keep you fuller longer, keep your energy up till midday and promote healthiness within your body.
Most people have heard how healthy dark chocolate is for you, but they just don’t know why. A lot of us are shocked to hear how much caffeine is in dark chocolate. Caffeine in small doses is actually healthy for your diet and body. Caffeine is obviously going to give you that instant energy boost which is why dark chocolate can cause you to have so much energy (BET YOU THOUGHT THE ENERGY WAS FROM THE SUGAR). The best dark chocolate to incorporate into your diet is dark chocolate that is dairy free and organic. Again moderation is key as with anything in your diet.

The awesome thing about green smoothies is, you can get all your needed vitamins and minerals for the whole day in one glass. If you have a juicer than you can juice the fruits and vegetables for a tasty drink. Otherwise a green smoothie is just as good. I prefer smoothies because they are cold and can often trick your mind into thinking their a treat, and if you make them right they can be! For the most part the green look of the smoothie or juice comes from spinach. Spinach has a ton of potassium and magnesium and as we already know potassium is an instant energy booster. So if your adding both spinach and bananas in your smoothie your energy will stay steady throughout the whole day. You want to make sure to incorporate a variety of fruits and veggies to your smoothie. Getting as many vitamins as possible. Also things like soy milk, honey, or protein powders will give you an extra boost of energy and add extra antioxidants to your day.
