Hey there lovelies! Today were talking all about coffee, I know sounds great right. I wanna start off by saying coffee is not bad for you. In fact studies has suggested that a cup of coffee every now and then can be beneficial to you. However having coffee every day can be taxing not only to your body but to your mind as well. It’s not a healthy choice especially if you drink a few glasses a day. So I’ll be sharing some coffee alternatives that are sure to still give you the energy and boost you need to take on the day.

As I mentioned earlier, having a cup of coffee every now and then can be beneficial to your health. Doctors have suggested that coffee can help lower your risk for diseases such as type II diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and heart conditions. It can also lower your depression rate, and help protect your liver. Not to mention coffee has a lot of fiber in it, helping your bowels get moving, especially if there backed up. The problem with coffee comes in when we have it to excess and pair it with sweet creamers. Having too much coffee will raise your heart rate, causing shakiness, and feelings of anxiety. The creamers we choose to put in our coffee have tons of sugar in them (which is why we use them to sweet our caffeine). Having so much sugar in the morning, or anytime through out the day is gonna raise your blood sugar levels which can eventually lead to serious problems. If you do choose to have a cup of coffee every now and then your best bet is to stick with natural sweeteners and creamers. Things like, Almond milk, Coconut Milk, Soy milk, raw cane sugar, Agava and so on. The fake sweeteners like Stevia, and others are just as bad as creamers so STEAR CLEAR!
The first alternative I wanna talk about is Matcha. Now Matcha is know for being a tea that has a thick green consistency. However, recently Matcha has come out with coffee alternatives like the Matcha Latte. This latte is made with the powder form Matcha leaf’s, which has ton’s of antioxidants in it, helping with your performance throughout the day. One cup of Matcha has as such nutrients as ten cups of green tea (Pretty Cool Right!). Studies have shown that Matcha can be used to calm your body and mind. If your feeling shaky or anxious, drink a cup of this and it’ll be sure to help relax you. You can order a Matcha latte or other Matcha coffee alternatives at pretty much any coffee shop. You can also find the powder at the grocery store with ton’s of recipes online to help you make it.

Although most of us don’t like to admit it, coffee can often be an addiction. There is a reason we get addicted, jittery or even get headaches when we don’t consume our morning coffee. Detoxing from coffee and breaking the addiction can be painful if you don’t do it right. You do not want to stop cold turkey, especially if your prone to headaches or migraines. A good method to try is to wean yourself off of coffee slowly. If you drink two or three cups in a day you can start drinking only one cup a day. If you only have one cup in the morning you can do start using half caffeinated and half non caffeinated coffee mix’s. Switching out your coffee for another caffeinated beverage like green tea or black tea can also be an option. As long as you body is getting that caffeine kick, it won’t go into full detox mode. Kinda scary to think that our body is so dependent on a beverage!
