The hourglass shape is when your bust and hips are relatively the same measurement. Your waist will also be smaller, if not the smallest part of your body. If you were to look at your self in the mirror you can definitely see the hourglass figure pretty clearly, and might also describe yourself as curvy. So what looks good on this body shape?! The key to styling this body is to 1). define your waist, and 2). show off your lovely lady lumps! If you’re a curvy women, there is no reason to try and hide it. Most of us would kill for some good curves, so it’s important to wear clothes that show off your figure. Now I am not saying that everything has to be skin tight, because you need to be able to do everyday things like working or grocery shopping without feeling uncomfortable or too exposed. Also if your waist tapers in, you will look amazing in anything that accentuates that part of your body.

What you should wear:

* Formfitting topsΒ  Β  Β  *Any top with V- neck or Circle neckΒ  Β  Β  Β *Peplum Blouses

*Formfitting dresses, or dresses with a belt at the waistΒ  Β  Β  Β  Β  *High-waisted Jeans or pants

*Flare jeans that are fitted at the topΒ  Β *Fitted jumpsuits, or jumpsuits with a belt

More Tips

* Stay away from flowy pieces, they can make you look bigger than you are and take away from your shape.

* Always wear layers, because you have a little bit more of a curvy body, layers are gonna be your best friend so no skin is showing (unless you want it to).

The triangle or pear body shape is one where the hips are the widest part of the body. You can consider yourself to have a bigger lower half and a bigger bum. Your shoulders and bust tend to be the smallest part of your body. One of the keys to styling this shape is again to show off your curves, man I would kill to have a bigger bum so own your body! Another big tip when styling this body shape is to wear things that elongate the body. Because you hold most of your weight on your bottom, some clothes can make you look shorter than you are, and won’t show off your legs and waist.

What you should wear:

*Bell SleevesΒ  Β  Β *Scoop Neck TopsΒ  Β *Tops with Patterns will show off your top half

*A-line style dresses or dresses with a belt at the waistΒ  Β *Maxi dresses

*Flare Jeans or Trouser Style Jeans will elongate the bottom half

More Tips

*If your not a fan of showing off your curves all the time, try dressing an outfit up with accessories, especially necklaces. This will take the eyes off the bum and hip area and bring the eyes up to the bust and shoulder area.

*Steer away from patterns on your bottom half, patterns can often make your bottom half look bigger than it is, and can make you look shorter than you are.

As an apple shape your body is generally well proportioned, your shoulders and bust are probably going to be broader than your hips. This body shape will mostly likely not have a definite waist line (if you do your more likely an hourglass shape). When styling an apple shape body it’s important to play up your full bust and your amazing legs and arms! The great thing about apple shape is you can pull off a lot more styles than other body shapes.

What you should wear:

*Flowy Tunics and ShirtsΒ  Β  *Relaxed Boyfriend Button-upsΒ  Β  Β *Anything with a V-neck

*Strapless Dresses look amazing on youΒ  Β  *Maxi Dresses or Wrap Style Dresses

*Skinny Jeans and LeggingsΒ  Β  *High-waisted Jeans can give help you establish a waist

*Lowrise Jeans also look amazing on your body shapeΒ  *Jean Jacket

More Tips

*Go Strapless or Sleeveless! Show off your gorgeous arms and shoulders and you’ll definitely be happy with what you see.

*Steer away from anything with a belt at the waist, it can often show off the fact that you don’t have a super defined waist.

Athletic body shapes are best described as being similar all around. What I mean by this is no one part of your body is gonna hold more weight than another part. Your shoulders and hips tend to be the same measurements and you probably wouldn’t describe yourself as curvy. The great thing about the athletic frame is your body is strong, and your portions are even which is a blessing. You can decide, when styling your clothes, which body part you’d like to accentuate on that occasion. The key to styling this body type is having the right balance. If you’re wearing a loose fitting top, counter that with skinny jeans. If your wearing a tight top, tuck it into a pair of loose fitting pants.

What you should wear:Β

*Halter or Racer-Back Tank TopsΒ  Β  Β  Β *Anything Strapless!Β  Β  *Scoop or Round Neckline

*Spaghetti Strap Dresses or Strapless dress look amazing on youΒ  Β *Jumpsuits and Rompers

*Skinny Jeans, Leggings, or Tailored TrousersΒ  Β *3/4 Length SleevesΒ  *Heels or Boots

More Tips

*Belting your dresses or tops can create the illusion that you have more of a waist line then you actually do.

*Steer clear of clothing pieces that are shapeless, they can often make you look square and straight all around

  1. Great post! A lot of women hate their bodies and I think a lot of it is because they don’t know how to dress to accentuate their bodies the best way πŸ™‚ I definitely didn’t know how to dress until I got a job at a nice clothing store and the ladies already working there taught me! I loved clothes shopping more after that!
