Hey there my lovelies! With summer coming to an end, and fall right around the corner, I wanted to do a blog post on how to make the most out of these last few weeks of warm weather. It’s hard to feel like you’ve fully enjoyed your summer, especially if you work full time or have kids in the house. This is the time to take advantage of summer before fall hits!
Take a beach trip and make it epic
These next few weeks are gonna be some of the last days to hit the beach and actually enjoy your time there. Once fall hits the water get colder and the wind picks up. If you don’t have a beach near you, go to your local swimming pool, lake, pond etc and enjoy some time in the sun. Spend all day there, bring lunch, and tons of activities to keep you and your family busy. This will probably be one of the last days to enjoy your time near the water so make it as enjoyable as possible.
Go on a picnic
One of my favorite things to do as a kid was make lunch, pack a blanket, drinks and go on a picnic in the backyard. With the weather still being warm, this is a perfect & inexpensive way to have fun and spend time with your family or significant other. Look up some fun & healthy lunch recipes and prep your picnic basket. You can go to your local river, park, or even just your backyard. Sit in the sun and enjoy a nice meal with people who make you happy. This is an activity that isn’t going to drain all your energy or cost a ton of money.
Go Camping and make it an adventure
Get your camping gear together and hit a local camp ground. This time of the year you can find tents on sale at Target or Walmart for 20$ to 30$. You can make a weekend of it, invite your friends, family or significant other and enjoy some warm weather and outdoors time. You can also go super easy and pitch a tent in your backyard. This is a perfect idea if you have little ones in the house, it makes it easy to have everything you need right there. If you go camping at a camp site there is always tons of activities to do, things like swimming, hiking, night walks, kayaking, boating and more. As long as you don’t go overboard with buying camping gear, and bring what you already have this can be an inexpensive adventure idea.
Take the men in your life fishing
Fishing is not an activity I personally enjoy doing, but for my dad, brothers and boyfriend this is something they are very into. Take a day trip to a water source and spend the day fishing with them. I always love watching their faces when they hook a fish! You can stop at your local bait shop on the way and stock up on fishing gear, water bottles and snacks. If you don’t enjoy fishing, you can still spend the day with them. While they are fishing you can read by the water, get your tan on, journal, workout etc. It’s not about what you’re doing, it’s simply about spending the day together. The guys will appreciate the thought and enjoy the idea of catching something for dinner.
Visit a national park or amusement park
This is a great idea no matter what age you are. Even at twenty four I still have a blast at water parks, amusement parks, and national forest. Since summer is coming to a close you can find amusement park and water park tickets on sale. Pack a bathing suit, extra clothes and some cash for food and spend the day riding collar coasters, and sliding down steep water slides. If you want to head to a national park, you can pack food, wear hiking shoes and shorts and spend the day eating and exploring the park. The main goal is to get outside in the fresh air and enjoy the last of the warm weather. DON’T FORGET TO ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN!!!
Have a Bonfire and Catch Fireflies
There is nothing like sitting around a bonfire on a cool summer night and enjoying good company and good food. If you live near a beach or water source you can find out what your towns ordinances are about bonfires. They usually have designated sections where you are permitted to light fires. You can also start a small bonfire in your backyard, catch fireflies and enjoy some delicious s’mores. This is an inexpensive way to enjoy time with your family and friends and have a night of fun before fall hits.
Check out your local farmers market and flower shops
This is one of my favorite activities to do during the summer. I love buying fresh locally grown produce from my farmers market as well as a boutique of fresh flowers. With the changing season flowers are going to stop blooming, so grab them up while you still can! Plan a nice meal for your family, get some recipes and use your fresh produce. Set the table with your summer flowers and enjoy a relaxing night in.
